Metal Braces
Metal braces have become less popular, primarily due to the increased use of clear aligner solutions, such as Invisalign (which we will talk about, shortly)
Metal braces are often the orthodontic solution of choice for patients who have severe malocclusion, particularly in children.
Metal braces are constructed of metal brackets attached to your teeth using dental cement, then connected by wires and (possibly) tiny rubber bands. They are the “train tracks” that most people picture when they hear the word “braces.”
Metal braces are extremely flexible in terms of what they can treat, but they are quite noticeable, can hurt, and can lead to damage to the mouth and gums.
Metal braces are obvious when you smile, laugh, or talk. They can make wearers extremely self-conscious.
Today’s metal braces are smaller than those of years past, which means they tend to be less noticeable and more comfortable.
Myobrace
Comfort Dental Centre Buderim is a certified Myobrace provider. The Myobrace System uses no braces whiles straightening your teeth and jaws.
Myobrace employs myofunctional orthodontic techniques to address poor oral habits that are often the underlying causes of crooked teeth. The treatment uses light, intermittent force to straighten misaligned teeth.
How does Myobrace work?
Myobrace uses a series of appliances to correct poor dental habits.
The design of the Myobrace appliance effectively trains the tongue to properly position the upper jaw, retrain the oral musculature, and apply light force to align teeth. The Myobrace appliance is composed of:
- Tooth channels– aligns the front teeth
- Tongue tag– trains the tongue position
- Lip bumper– trains the lower lip
- Frankel Cage– expands the arch-form
You wear the Myobrace appliance for 1 to 2 hours each day and overnight while you are asleep.

Invisalign
The Invisalign system uses clear aligners, changed every couple of weeks, to move your teeth towards their target location.
Invisalign minimises office visits. Metal braces require frequent adjustments at a dental office. For Invisalign, all that is needed is the successive replacement of one aligner with another. Because the aligners are removable, the process is uncomplicated.
Invisalign is an attractive alternative to braces. The aligners are clear, so most people will not even notice you are wearing them.
Traditional braces can make eating certain foods much more difficult. Foods like corn on the cob, or sticky ones, can get stuck in them. Invisalign aligners are smoother and not prone to food getting stuck in them. Additionally, they are removable, so they can be removed while eating.
Brushing and flossing are easier. Cleaning teeth and braces can be quite difficult. Invisalign users just take the aligner out of the mouth and brush their teeth normally.

Porcelain Veneers
